Set high on Mount Dallas on San Juan Island, this remodel reworked an existing home to make the most of its sweeping water views. The home's distinctive character, with river-rock stone walls, a standing-seam metal roofline and green siding, is paired with warm wood-framed windows and doors that tie the house to its wooded, rocky site.
Outside, a broad deck with cable railings looks out over the water, while a Japanese-inspired garden with stone pathways, a stone lantern and sculpted pines welcomes visitors at the entry.
Inside, the main living spaces are bright and open. The kitchen sits beneath a vaulted ceiling with clerestory windows and pendant lighting, featuring rich wood cabinetry, a long island and built-in appliances. A stone fireplace anchors the living room, and a wood-and-tile staircase leads up from the entry.
The bathrooms are finished with equal care: a spa-like walk-in shower with a wood bench and multiple sprays, a soaking tub with bronze-finish fixtures, and vanities topped with striking stone countertops and vessel sinks.
