Ravenhill has been building custom homes in San Juan County since 1980 and is recognized as one of the leading builders of unique homes in the Pacific Northwest. Our tradition of quality, creativity and comprehensive management has resulted in a body of work that has been frequently awarded and showcased in both regional and national publications as well as architectural competitions.
Early in 2020, the original founder Peter Kilpatrick sold the company to longtime employees Credence Ross, Mike Murphy and Orion Powell. Peter continued on in a consultant role as needed during the transition. Several skilled and experienced project foremen are expert project leads. Longtime Office Manager Shelle Cropper contributes years of experience in company organization and oversight of sub-contractors, employees and clients. In the cabinet shop adjoining the office, Joe Cooper Design, LLC focuses with his team on cabinetry and its interface with interior finish design. Jonathan Hu works alongside Ravenhill as an independent designer, specializing in innovative design-build solutions.
Ravenhill Construction has built homes on San Juan Island, Orcas Island, Lopez Island, Shaw Island and many of the non ferry accessible locations in the San Juan Islands such as Decatur Island, Henry Island and Pearl Island.
Building homes in the San Juan Islands has given Ravenhill a unique set of experience, knowledge and skill for achieving advanced design and technology goals in the diverse Pacific Northwest islands environment.
Ravenhill Construction, Inc. began in 1978 in a shop designed and built by owner Peter Kilpatrick. The fieldstone foundation, timber frame style and hand split cedar shake roof anticipate the materials he will use in the future to build award-winning homes.
Through the years Ravenhill has grown and matured to become one of the most successful construction companies in San Juan County. By taking on progressively more complex and challenging projects, the crew has gained the diverse skills necessary to welcome each new undertaking with great enthusiasm, confidence and insight.
Ravenhill employs an expert team of carpenters and foremen who have orchestrated the successful completion of over one hundred homes and remodels. Some of our team members have expertise in specific areas, such as foundations, finish work or cabinetry. Many have been with the company for over twenty years. We have the ability to take a project from design through budgeting, site development and construction to the completion of a new home.
We work closely with a number of regional architects who appreciate our respect and commitment to architectural detail and design intent. They recognize that the quality of our work transcends the normal dictates of plans and specifications to become homes that are loved by owners and recognized in publications nationwide. Noteworthy and award-winning projects throughout San Juan County include the Natural Balance House, Cady Mountain Residence, The Agosta House, Henry Island Residence, The Peek Home, The Long View Suncrest Residence and North Bay.
At Ravenhill we endeavor to develop a close working relationship with each client. We emphasize detailed pre-planning during the budgeting period of each new project by itemizing costs and presenting cost saving alternatives for the different phases of construction.
Though many of our clients are not local residents during the time of construction, Ravenhill employs many different means of communication including in-depth progress reporting to keep members of a project updated on all advances and changes. Weekly or biweekly client meetings - whether on-site or online, ongoing updates via phone, email and text help keep all parties up to date on job site progress. Upon completion of each home, clients can feel satisfied that they controlled the outcome of their project and were direct participants in the building process.
